a little help, please?

The mall I work at is opening a department store this week. It's very exciting and something we've all been looking forward to and working towards for over a year. And to help kick the whole thing off and celebrate being worked like a dog for the past few weeks, there's a gala being held in a couple of day. As such I need and outfit and am having a little difficulty in picking one out...

I was digging through my closet and stumbled upon a few items that have never been worn with tags still on (it's a thing I do. I buy things and never wear them. I'm not proud, but whatever. that's a whole 'nutha post). I found a bow-tie that I though could be fun, but is it too much? Since it is a work event, it'll most likely be just a bunch of boring old suits. However, at the same time it is a department store so I think those who are not in boring old suits will be dressing it up... And there in lies my problem - how to walk this line. I don't want to over do it, but I can't dress it too far down either since all my big bosses will be there. (In other words, I need to wear a tie, bow or otherwise. I was thinking jeans, not tie and a white tux jacket would be perfect, but the whole work related thing killed that idea.)

I can not buy something new. CAN NOT. So, I continued the digging and pulled out two potentials. Which do you prefer? Let me know your thoughts, then read on for some commentary on both:

Jacket 1 and Jacket 2 - the same, but different

Jacket 1. I like it. Both the jacket and pants are brand new so it is like I just went shopping. The jacket is a navy tux jacket (Versace) and the bottoms are charcoal tux pants (Lanvin) with a black stripe down the side. I feel that the jacket is too long and perhaps dated since things now days are a bit cropped. And there is a bit of a sheen to it as well. I'm also too fat for the pants that are meant to be a little tapered. The bow tie, I feel is huge... clown like even! I bought it (at Zara $9.99!) since I thought it'd be floppy and boyish, but I'm not so sure now that I see it on.

Jacket 2. I like it as well. Same pants , but this jacket is cropped (which I'm more comfortable with... H&M, baby!) a there is a gray check pattern in it. Too matchy-matchy with the pants? I also have black tux pants that I could wear but I have already worn them with this jacket to another work event (minus the tie) and therefore feel I can not re-wear since the jacket is too memorable.

Which do you prefer?

And what do you think of the clown tie. Is it big and sloppy or Lanvin-floppy (more of what I had hoped to achieve here

"j'adore it!" He's back!

and just in time! Just as I was starting to miss my Monday nights of Be Good Johnny Weir, Bravo threw us a bone (ha!). (BTW, is Be Good JW over? Nothing was ever announced and since, sadly, Sundance isn't a real network yet, there's not way of telling.) Christian Siriano, the OG Diva of Fierceness, is back (or was back)with a one-off show to let us all know what he's been up to.

they cut off the best part of that Tori Spelling fitting... when CS says"she's skinny with torpedo boobs...!".

I died. It was so funny. He's so funny! It's just madness to think that this is how he works and how his "business" is run! Bravo needs to give him his own show... period.

But his likeness to JW is kinda crazy and makes me wonder... who do you like better Johnny Weir or Christian Siriano? Rank-em!

omg, YUM!

Move over iPad, the Double Down from KFC debuts this weekend!!! (there's a counter at kfc.com/doubledown !!!)

I don't think I'll be lining up over night or anything, but I do hope to be tasting the Colonel's original recipe for goodness one day soon. I love KFC (those battered fries, biscuits and cold slaw? YUM!). And how much do we love that this it totally good for us since 1) it's chicken breast! and 2) no carbs! RIGHT?

I have never been one to count calories and honestly don't really know what the numbers mean at all... but from the sounds of this, it really isn't that bad, right?
The Double Down comes either grilled or fried with KFC’s Original Recipe. The fried version has 540 calories, 32 grams of fat and 1,380 milligrams of sodium. The grilled version has 460 calories, 23 grams of fat and 1,430 milligrams of sodium.

Current government guidelines recommend less than 2,300 mg of sodium per day for people over age 2. Most Americans consume about 3,500 milligrams daily. An entire meal should contain no more than 600 milligrams. Acceptable fat is about 65 grams daily on a 2,000 calorie diet.
Doesn't sound so bad to me. Well, if I have a heart attack while eating one, at least I'll die happy.

Moist Lips

I blame spending 10-12 hours a day in an AC dungeon for my addiction to lip balms and chapstick. So when I saw the commercial for the new Neosporin lip therapy for dry and chapped lips (and NOT the one for sores and herpes... cuz, ew.), I headed straight for Target. It claims moist and healed lips in 3 days. So I of course, got both the night AND day (the day has 20 spf!!) treatment. I have been using both in tandem.. THEY WORK! I can now make it through a whole day at work without needing to lubing up every couple of hours. And that's a good thing since I'm sure that my co-workers appreciated NOT working with someone with Bobby Trendy lips.

So, as a side note, here are a few items that will hopefully make this post a little less random. Well, maybe.

-Remember "back to basics"?

-I love Neosproin as I believe it's the gel from the gods. It works miracles on cuts and any open wounds (LIKE ZITS. one of my techniques involves popping them at night and then smearing the area with neosporin and covering with a band-aid overnight. totally helps the healing!). PS - I also love that it's anti-bacterial.

-I have a new love of SPF. My new thing wearing no less than 50 on my face when I step outside.

Bump and grind

I think that Jess has found her new look! Or maybe her wedding hair?

You see, she has this theory that she's losing her hair because she always pulls it back in to a ponytail. uh, huh.... well it's a theory. Anyhow, it was also her thinking that the remedy to this situation was a bump-it or two. hmmmm.... What do we think?

I think it looks great. The higher the hair, the closer to God... right?
Totally.

So close yet so far!

Kogi come back!!!
So I'm sure you all know of the Kogi food truck phenomenon. I've been following them on twitter and keeping my eyes peeled with each trip to LA in the hopes to trying a famed Korean taco... I've come close many a time, but last week they were right in my backyard for lunch.

A coworker and I raced over only to stand in this gnarly line for 45 minutes and barely moved 3 feet. We sadly had to give up since we had to be back at work (whatever!) But this nice man, who's a VP where we work, saw our sad faces and offered to give us some of his. We were too proud to take his food and deprive him of lunch, so just snapped a few photos of his triumph to tie us over until we actually get one.

Kim Chee Quesadilla and the tacos. sigh!

We had to settle on Daphne's for lunch. It's normally quite good, but that day it didn't quite hit the spot.

The Street Gyros (or just mini gyros made to look like taco truck tacos!!!)

The latest in Twilight-wear

"What a sick, masochistic lion."
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 13, p.274

I'm glad to know that I gifted the precious Edward pins to the right person. T will cherish him, care for him and use him in way that Bella never could, as a headband! haha!
